Christina Baker Kline's Dear Mama, Dear Papa is a memoir that explores the complex relationship between a daughter and her parents. Kline tells the story of her own family, and how her mother's mental illness shaped her life.

Kline's father, Dick, was a kind and gentle man. He was a successful businessman, and he adored his wife and daughter. But Dick was also unable to help Lee with her mental illness. He didn't know how to reach her, and he often felt helpless and frustrated.

Kline grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, but she also witnessed the devastating effects of mental illness. She saw her mother struggle to function, and she watched her father try to hold the family together. Kline's own mental health was also affected by her mother's illness. She developed anxiety and depression, and she struggled with self-esteem issues.

As an adult, Kline sought therapy to help her understand her own mental health issues. She also began to write about her experiences. Dear Mama, Dear Papa is a memoir that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It is a story about the challenges of mental illness, but it is also a story about love, resilience, and hope.

Dear Mama, Dear Papa is a must-read for anyone who has been touched by mental illness. It is a powerful and moving memoir that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
